Amateur Radio

Before there was such a thing called the Internet in Australia I use to communicate with other people outside my normal circle of friends via a CB radio, today I still use a radio to communicate with others, as well as the Internet, however the radio today is a HAM radio, or otherwise known as an Amateur Radio.

I currently own the Wouxun KG-UVD1P for mobile operations and the ICOM IC-7000 as my base station radio at home in my shack.

Both rigs are perfect for Amateur Radio and also serve well as a scanner.

If you are interested in Amateur Radio and would like to get a basic understanding, then I can recommend the book ‘Your Entry Into Amateur Radio’ published by the Wireless Institute of Australia (http://www.wia.org.au)
